80′s: The Gold Decade of The Horror Movie Details

A journey into the numerous Horror Films of the 80′s analyzed under a “religious” profile which is purely Catholic. The diversification of the analysis is, of course, an issue that interests us. In fact, of all the films taken into consideration, this journey not only gives a brief opinion of the film, but it also shows the depth and thoughts shared and prepared by the Catholic Cinematographic Center. This Centre analyzes the plot and also evaluates the film under an ethical, moral and religious aspect in order to indicate if Catholics are able to watch it. The result is a really interesting insight and sometimes it has a fun perspective. We must acknowledge, however, that the critical Catholic knows how to diversify religious opinion from the technical-creative aspects. This means that a film can be recognized as a masterpiece but not get the clearance for visibility. 65 deepened critical articles of the most important films of the decade. Over 9000 Horror Movies from 1980 to 1989 linked to external resources for Cast, Posters, Images and Reviews. The electronic version of this book is designed in Kindle, PDF and Epub format. This is an interactive book. An Internet connection is not essential although it is recommended so the reader can take advantage of the many external links that are present in the work. >> Click here for More Details

Silver Scream Volume 1: 40 Classic Horror Movies 1920 – 1941 Details

From somnambulist kidnappers stalking the streets of an expressionist nightmare to an ambulatory alien vegetable terrorising the crew of a futuristic spaceship, fantasy and horror film has explored every facet of human (and not so human) nature. From the earliest days of cinema, visions of blood-thirsty vampires, musty mummies, fanged wolf men, invisible men, insane phantoms and bolt-necked patchwork monstrosities have stalked, stomped, crept and lurched their way across popular consciousness.
In these books we journey back to the very start, when the silver screen was silent and the horrors were presented in flickering black and white. We explore the development of eighty key films, with detailed analysis and biographies of all those involved in their creation from the writers and directors through the composers, cast and technical crew.
Revisit the days when the names of Lugosi, Karloff, Lorre and Chaney ruled the cinemas, and when the myths and legends of iconic monsters were created and developed. Come with us back to the time of the Silver Scream…

Midnight, 1954. A striking woman in a torn black dress slinks down a cobwebbed, candelabra’d corridor. She stops, shrieks hysterically into the camera, then solemnly says, “Good evening, I am Vampira.” Her real name is Maila Nurmi and she was the first in a long line of television horror movie hosts, commonly seen on independent stations’ late-night “grade Z” offerings dressed as some zany ghoul or mad scientist. This book covers the major hosts in detail, along with styles and show themes. Merchandise tie-in and fan reactions are also chronicled. The appendices list film and record credits. >> Click here for More Details

What is happening to Horror? Hollywood and the search for New Blood (The MovieWiz Academy) Details

A vibrant genre since the dawn of cinema, the horror film is now going through a crisis. Since the turn of the Millennium, Hollywood seems to have run out of ideas, and has seen an increasingly desperate rummaging in the past to re-make its horror heritage. The great directors who created modern horror (Sam Raimi, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, George A Romero, and William Friedkin) have either moved onto other genres, or have looked a shadow of their former selves with their new works. Freddy, Jason and the Video Nasties have all been re-booted, but to little creative excitement.
Hollywood has either looked to the Far East to re-make and sanitise the works of Japanese and Korean horror innovators, or look back to the Eighties for its (lack of) inspiration. Even the Undead have been forced into making a comeback. With torture porn and extreme horror also now looking tired (Saw 23, anyone?), can a new generation of European film-makers and low budget digital production opportunities force re-invigoration of the genre. It is now time to ask where next for horror?
